The flame rod pictured here was designed for use in an ignition system. Our project team met with the customer and together we co-engineered this part to not only perform reliably in the harsh conditions of an oil and gas industry application, but to also streamline its manufacture.

Materials of construction included stainless steel, notoriously difficult to machine exotic nickel alloys, as well as ceramic. After machining the components, we applied a lead-free glaze to the ceramic and executed an active metal brazing process, which eliminates the need for heat treating and plating of the metallized component. Precision TIG and laser welding completed the assembly. Throughout the process, we maintained precise ±.001" tolerances required. Furth validation was provided with helium leak testing.

INTA continues to supply these components at the rate of 500-1,000 units per year. Our streamlined manufacturing and contribution to the design engineering enabled us to form a strong bond with this customer, and our valued partnership is a key to ongoing success for us both.
