What types of copper plating does INTA offer?

INTA Technologies Corp. offers electroless and electrolytic copper plating services.

What is the difference between eless and electrolytic copper plating?

Eless plating (a.k.a. electroless) is ideal for rough surfaces and complex geometries because it offers a more uniform deposition. Eless coating processes may be a better option than an electrolytic process for a part with a small ID and long aspect ratio, for example. INTA’s eless copper coatings are thin. To achieve a thicker coating electrolytic copper is used.

How much does copper plating cost?

Costs are mainly dependent on component size and geometry. The copper itself does not drive the cost until you reach very high volumes. Plating can be labor intensive if blind holes, masking, threads and other features require special attention.

What is a typical plating thickness?

This value can range from .000002 to .010” – contact our sales office for design assistance contact@intatech.com or 408-748-9955 x113

How fast can INTA plate parts?

Standard lead time is five (5) days. Same day or expedite service available in many cases for an additional charge.

What do I need to know about copper plated parts?

Safe storage of copper plated components is key. Components should be kept in dry areas in sealed bags, trays or containers if possible to avoid discoloration and environmental impact.

What about quality?

INTA uses AQL methods and XRF equipment to accurately determine copper plating thicknesses. In most cases, several random areas are checked against standards and the thickness of the copper is recorded, stored on a computer and printed, reviewed and filed. INTA also employs other measures to ensure quality including:

Identification

Inspection

Planning/scheduling

NC/CAR

Audits

QSM

Documentation

Surveillance/Supervision

Records

INTA Technologies is ISO 9001:2008 certified and inspects materials at incoming and outgoing. We use AVL’s and rank/review our suppliers regularly. INTA is known for quality and its reputation and history provides peace of mind to the customer base.
